Vintage Leather Suitcase makeover

Sooo sorry I have been gone all week. But I'm back with my long awaited Iphone 5 that will take waay better pictures , not to mention all the other new feature's. believe me i do not keep up with all the newest stuff so this tele has gotta last me. Anyhoo, I have been working on a couple projects this week. One being a suitcase for my sister in laws upcoming nuptials. I was super excited to find this large leather case outside the trash! Freebie!! Just waiting for a makeover ! After rummaging through my lace , and doily stash, I found the perfect pieces of old /new wedding dress trim, and a sweet Swiss dot sheer piece, also a small, what looked like a dainty coaster, that I embroidered the letter L for Lacey(fitting). I adhered, and sealed with ModPodge, and TaDah!!! I am now on a mission to find another to make for myself! Happy Friday all!

While in our last trip to Ikea, my pal Emmy found some fabric she wanted to use along with their down filled pillow forms for her bedroom. I being the novice sewing person took on the project then sat on it so to speak till the mood struck me. Well thank her stars that day was today, especially after she texted me about the new Ikea being built in Kansas City. Lucky Duck's!!!!.
And here's what my afternoon cranked out. Here they come Em! Yours truly, Dawn

Sewww Easy Sundress

Who knew you could go to the fabric store and find a fairly awesome selection of tube top style, multi length sundress material ready to buy on the bolt, for $15-20 dollars a yd!
I say this would be a very easy project for someone wanting to learn to sew. And instantly gratifying!
All you do is: 1)Wrap fabric around your chest and pin a comfortable fit. 2) turn right sides in an pin your fabric all the way down.3) cut off your excess fabric, an use a zigzag stitch to sew up your dress. 4) then simply fold and pin a half inch hem on the bottom, and sew up with a straight stitch.
Flip right side out, and hey now! What'ya know! Wear alone with your cute sandal's or add a thin summer cardi. Now go to the fab store and give it a whirl ! Happy almost weekend:) Dawn

"I Do" love getting crafty for weddings!

Well my friend's wedding is coming up quick, and there are a few projects to be done for the big day. The one to post today ,is the shabby chic jar's for the table's. They are to be filled with multi- colored wild flower's, so we wanted them to be made with neutral colored lace, eyelet, etc. They also have a rustic element in the use of twine, since they will be sitting on slices of wood.(Project soon to follow). How do you like em? Happy mid week!

Kids love to sew

My little guy asked to make a little orange stuffed angry bird, from my scrap's of felt. Alrighty, say's I, and I will let you do most of the sewing, by hand, and machine. I thought he would whine, but as you can see he really enjoyed it! I think it help's kiddo's feel more pride in their project's. Happy day to you all!
Black Angry Bird  was a sweet gift handmade by little cousin Sophie.

Baby Magnets

Reader's, forgive me for being late with this post. It was a nonstop Friday! Alas it is Saturday, and I have a project for you, using vintage pattern's. I needed something unique for a friend having her first baby. So as I was going through my patterns, I found some for baby's. "lightbulb moment!" Why not make her some fridge magnet's for her sonogram's, and or first baby pic's! So here we go!

Supplie's: pattern, wood shape's( found in bags at craft store), Mod podge, scissor's, Americana silver paint, pencil, peel and stick magnets.

1) take your wood shape's, and trace around the image you want.
2)cut out your image's
3) paint all your wood pieces silver, or whatever color you like
4) use Mod Podge to glue and seal image's to wood shapes.
5) stick magnet's to back, and press firmly.

I have been making magnet's for year's and alway's find them instantly gratifying, and hopefully you will enjoy this project too!:)

Travel Journal

Whenever I need a little rejuvenation, a good ol mini road trip with friend's does the trick! We alway's like to take book's mag's or sewing project's to do on the way. Another thing I alway's carry is a inexpensive journal,to keep ideas, sketches and other miscellany.

So I picked up a simple yellow one for less than two buckaroo's from the craft store, and thought I would jazz it up with a couple vintage ladies. I applied them with glittery Collage Pauge, and then figured I should have a custom made pencil to go with my custom journal.

Next, I gathered, fresh pencils, pretty paper's, a ruler, scissors, and this time some Mod Podge. And simply measured, cut ,and glued myself some sweet pencils to go with my journal. It's the little thing's we do that can make even a quick trip even more memorable. Have a wonderful weekend!
