Garage Sales and Thrift Stores

Tis the season for garage sales, and I finally got my fix and hit a few with some sweet finds. And after they closed up for the day I also visited the thrift store on the way home and found some great 1970's fabric to hopefully make some simple dresses inspired by the ones made by the Brilliant Brit: Dottie Angel.

I used to shop for whatever struck my fancy, but learned that's why you need to have your own sale after years of that kind of shopping. Now I generally look for specific item's for projects etc.
My sweet little ol postcard man called me to say he was having his sale, and I found more flowers for my blooming wall in my foyer.
I'm still on the hunt for vintage camping gear. I also am on the lookout for long old benches, and Rocco style 70's chairs to redo. I guess that means more shopping! Durn!
Top of the weekend to ya! Xo

My typical garaging/thrifting uniform

The two floral's are thin and flowy, and the tiny rose spray remind's me of my first day of school undershirt my mom bought me for kindergarten.

I can't believe the vintage purse on top was 25 cent's, and the rockin vintage leather attache  was $1.00! Oh I can't wait to do remodel it for myself:)

Lovely hankies, and handmade gold trim on an old bobbin.

A fantastic overnight vintage satin pajama envelope!

A couple old Pepsi ad's.

A beauty of a picture and hand mottled frame for my guest bath!

A thrifting we will go

Over the weekend we hit a few thrift store's to find doilies, lace , and rustic things, for my sister in laws upcoming outdoor wedding. We found lots of goodies for her big day, and lots of treasures for ourselves. It can't be helped, the deals were too tempting. My only bummer was when the spike haired guy in the purple shirt and vest( you know who you are) sold the industrial table I wanted right under my nose. I literally told him I was going to grab my mother in law, to see if we could haul it, when lo and behold not 3 min later he was wheeling otout the doors! Blast!! And what really rubbed salt was the price of only 30 bucks! And then I found some perfect chairs at another thrift the next day for 25 bucks for 6.! oh the awesome makeover i could give them ! I saw a fabby fabu idea on Pinterest . Well I still found plenty, but will woe over the one that got away!

I love Kimono's!! I found another with the real Kimono sleeves too.

I like the woodgrain look and could change the pad's soo easy, or I could decoupage the back ..hmm

This adorable child's metal stove had baby blue stovetop and was only 5 buck's!

I can Always find dishware for a song!

Had to snatch up this pretty, soft sham, and this barkcloth fabric.

Super cute 70's dress with long ruffle cap sleeves, and a beautifully cut jacket from Paris I could see wearing to a gallery event!

Leather well broke in boots, and a sweet old fashioned fish bowl!

The Big Score

Generally on Friday night's me and my sister, sometime's sister's and or mom and gram grab some din and go to the bookstore to hang out for the evening. Trust me, it's lovely relaxing fun.

When it's me and my little sister, and the kid's we like to add more stop's to the evening that alway's includes the Thrift Store, and Old Navy, and Starbucks ( especially for Bogo), aaaand Ulta, aaaand dinner(at good ol Steak n' shake) aaaand one shop for the kid's and finally they have to kick us outta the bookstore when it closes at 10:00.
We have a great time together especially when we score big at the Thrift! Proof was in our cart brimming with goodies that included a perfect grey velvet jacket from Sak's Fifth Avenue , a leather back pack, three Mexican bird feather art pic's for my collection ( Rachel found these for me) and for me one of my long time longing's on my must find list: : Vintage Leather Satchel's .
I am alway's on the lookout for a Gladstone, but when me and my sister spotted the John Romain leather bag behind the counter, the heaven's parted and the angel's sang!
Love I tell ya, and what made it sweeter was that I got it for a mere $7.50, after I haggled with the manager, and he gave me 50% more off ( didn't know you could do that huh?). I quickly looked it up on my phone and found my purse was listed for $145.00 on line!!! Similar ones ranged from 70 and up, so supa score I say!! And that's how we roll on a Friday night! Maybe boring to most but good time's to those who get... " The Thrill Of The Thrift!" Xox Dawn

Thrifty Winter Wear

Sorry bout the lack of post's. It seem like I can't get out of go go go mode. And I have a house full of outta town family this week. But I managed to snatch 30ish minutes at the thrift, to find a few must haves for the winter list, which included, a vintage fur, ( still looking for one with a hood),and a long leather coat( preferably 70's or earlier). Here's a few gem's I found, along with a couple dresses. I alway's love the
unusual and atypical! Happy Monday!
Can you believe this on trend wrap is only $ 8.49!! I loved it!
Pale blue leather and faux fur. Awesome on.
Umm. yeah I'm feelin this!
I can't wait till my Iphone 5 comes in so I can post better pic's, because the color, pattern, and  black velvet accentson this 60's dress were amazing!

Thrifty Thursday

I haven't hit the thrift store in quite some time and needed a fix. It's one of the few places you can buy a bag of goodie's for the price of a lunch! There was a good selection of lace and floral's, and oh the record player! I was looking for one and this would have been perfect, but lacked the needle! Ah well, I will continue to hunt, meanwhile I alway's find something! Happy Thursday!

My Fine find's, for a pittance.

I get a total rush out of finding stylish, trendy, and forever pieces to wear or accessorize with. Especially when those item's cost the price of a lunch. I thrill to find fashion must have's at estate sales and thrift stores. And I must admit I feel pretty darn proud at this example:

Catalog example several hundred dollars total.

My find's: vintage carpet bag, estate find $3.00.  Italian Leather boots, thrifted $6.99, and 1950's thifted teal blue gloves .99 cent's.

I hope you try a little treasure hunting yourselves! But if you come across those leather suspenders I have been looking for , save em for me!!:)
