I whip my braid's round!

My hair is long.. Very long. It enables me to wear many style's, and one of my faves is braided. As far as I can remember I have sported braid's. Little House On the Prairie style, to the side , one long in back, in a low bun with a flower, french braided in front and pulled back, Princess Leah style with a twist( I'll show you that someday) and like I did today.
Be brave my friend's! Be creative! Shrug off those that say you look like Swiss Miss! And hey Swiss Miss was cute anyway! My sister Vintage Honeybee likes to wear her mane like this and has a easy tutorial, so grab your brush and bobbie's and go for it! happy weekend all!xo Dawn

Besides, I'm thinkin this is lookin way more Frida, than Swiss!:)

Dolce and Gabbana Fall 2012

I believe that at times Fashion is as beautiful as a piece of art. Especially when I saw this fall's D&G pieces. They are brilliant, and breathtaking. A grand mix of gold, black, vivid floral, and lace, that strike a gorgeous vintage , royal appearance. The accessories are equally wonderful with their detail's( I love the Spatz look). I would be in heaven to own even one piece of this exquisite garment-art collection... Sigh... I hope your having a lovely weekend! Xo Dawn

Fascinated by Fascinator's

This winter, when the weather keep's us snug as a bug, yet looking to keep our crafty hand's busy, I say a hair Fascinator would be a jolly fun project. I have seen many in feather's but also flowers etc. I say any pretty bit's, baubles, feather's, or flora, attached to comb or barrette would do. Personally have a thing for stars so I will be looking for some to make a sweet cluster like some of these I have come across. Happy Mon!

When Fall is in the air

Can't you just smell it in the cool crisp morning? It's that change, and feel in the air when Fall is making it's arrival. It's time for squirrel's to scamper up the tree's with their forage of winter store's. And time to put our fave ol faithful sweater's at the ready for the chill that's just around the corner. When summer's floral's are now replaced with mum's of in Autumn's color's. Oh how I love the pumpkin's ,squash and Indian corn too! I never tire of their varieties of color, shape and texture. I look forward to the changing leave's, with a cup of cocoa in my hand's...happy Fallish Weekend!

Well I love a rainy night...

..Such a beautiful sight .
I love to feel the rain on my face
To taste the rain on my lip's
In the moonlight shadow..

After a summer of drought, Eddie Rabbitt's song start's humming cheerily behind my lip's when I see the dark cloud's squeeze out those earthquenching droplet's.
And then I instantly go into gopher mode.. I gopher into my curtain drawn, cozy burrow, light some good smelling candles, find a good ol' movie, grab a stack of rag mag's, and gopher a bowl of Edy's pumpkin pie icecream ( contributing to my Mae West figure) but for love of all that is decadent it's mighty tasty!
And that my friend's is why... I love a rainy night.. Hmm hmm lalalala la la la! Lovely eve to ya! Dawn

1927 silent film: Sunrise. I was seriously teary. I need to buy this movie!

Too late, empty bowl! It was that good!

My vintage dress collection grows

When in the thrift's ,and vintage clothes shop's I alway's have my eye's peeled for the 1950's house mum dresses. You know, the kind you would see on Mama on the Walton's, along with many other hard working ladies of the 50's while they were tending the garden or canning in the kitchen. I love the print's and sweet detail's. Personally i like to pair them with old cowboy boots ,and a denim jacket, or a sweater. And i'm looking forward to having a closet full of these frock's or at least make some beautie's like Dottie Angel one day!Happy Wednesday ! Dawn

When the weather is fine, have your dinner al fresco.

You may know the weather in the Midwest is crazy sometimes. We can have 80's one day and the next 40's...no joke . So when you have a perfectly sunny, 70 degree day, even if it's a weekday, you take advantage.

And that we did, by having a picnic dinner at the park!

It gave me a good excuse to make a grilled beef, and havarti cheese sandwich that was out of this world delish! The inspiration came from Pinterest( I heart pinterest folk's). It was an awesome way to use leftover roast, and I grilled some chiabatta bread with havarti with dill, and some organic baby arugula... Heaven I tell ya!

Along with some farmer's market fresh strawberries, that were beautiful solid red throughout, and some tea, we had a splendid dinner amongst the spring Iris's .

My Skye commented,"Mom, this is the best day,and you should sell these sandwiches...I'd say it was a success!

Other's at the park , were reading book's on park benches, walking thier dog's , enjoying the duck's in the pond, an air of relaxation amongst all.

Sit back, relax, and smell the posies!

So even if you have had a hectic day, why not grab a bite and enjoy it at your local park? I highly recommend it! Happy Tuesday all:) Dawn

No matter what your skill level, anybody can take an professional looking picture's with your phone! The latest I have discovered, and love is Pixlromatic. Doesn't this picture look like it's in another world? I love it!

Its no velvet Elvis

..But it is a few of my collection of velvet Mexican postcard's, probably from the same era. Very different than the typical card's I come across. Their fiesta neon color's, and of course velvet texture was a fun addition to my growing collection. And I also love my spanish Chica's! The hand stitched one with her ruffled dress was a really sweet find! Postcard's are ideal if you want to collect something inexpensive , fun, and that takes up very little space. So happy hunting!
